Salah (prayer) is one of the five pillars of Islam and it is the second most important aspect in Islam after the shahada. Salah is broken up in to five different segments through out the day and it is mandatory that we as Muslims complete all five prayers during the day. However, life can get busy and difficult making it much more harder for Muslims to follow through with this task. In this article, we will give you some tips that will help you to stay consistent with Salah.

Pray the mandatory prayers

Each prayer has separate number of prayers that are split in to Fardh, Sunna and Nawafil. Fardh are the mandatory prayers in each Salah thus our advice would be to complete them at the very least. Too many people focus on the sunnah which aren't mandatory and this can lead to people not praying altogether as it can be time consuming.

Just like when you are on a diet or trying to quit a bad habit, going cold turkey is never advised. Its the same here as we do not advise you to pray every single prayer in each salah.

Set an alarm

Set alarms for every prayer time. Its natural to let time pass by without realising. Especially in winter when prayer times are very short. Fajr can be a very difficult prayer to wake up for, so making sure that you have an alarm for Fajr is very important as one can sleep through this time period.

Sleep early

This ties in with the point above. Make sure to sleep early so that it is easier to wake up for Fajr. A lot of the times, if you wake up for Fajr and pray it, it motivates one to complete the rest of the days Salahs as the hardest prayer has been completed.

Routine

Try your best not to break your routine. Studies have been done that show if people consistently stick to something for 6 months, it becomes difficult to break the habit. Therefore, if you haven't been consistent for 6 months yet, then aim for this.

Final Thoughts

Salah will bring you success in this world and the hereafter. It is the most important activity of your life therefore make sure to find ways to keep on top of this task.
