We all know what the Quran is and the purpose of why it was revealed. But when was the last time we read the Quran- in Arabic or in its translation? It seems that although we live in a time where we can find a Quran online and even in every bedroom/living room, we have become distant from it. In the old times, it was a tradition to read the Quran daily. We all know the five daily prayers are an obligation so that's a given however, the people of old read the Quran as religiously as they would their salah. So how do we make the Quran a daily part of our lives? Read on and see if the below tips help!

Find your reason

The most important step is the purpose of your action. Without a purpose, we set ourselves up for failure. A journey with no direction will always be unsuccessful. The same goes for reading the Quran. DO you wish to do it for the ajar (reward) or is it because you want to get closer to Allah through his words? Or maybe its to learn the lessons the Quran is trying to teach? Whatever your reasons, make sure you know what they are.

Make time

We have time for video games and other idle things. Find a time in your busy (or not so busy) schedule where you can fit in some time to read the Quran. Be it for 5 minutes only, try your best to squeeze this time in and then make a commitment to do it every day. We would advise you to find a time where you are completely idle. If you travel on the train then use the time travelling to read some Quran. Or maybe when you have completed your dinner, rather than scrolling through your Tiktok or Youtube feed, take 5 minutes out and read some Quran.

Find convenience

By this we mean find the easiest way you can access the Quran. So if you find yourself on your phone all the time, then download the Quran app on your smart phone. This will allow you to access the Quran from your smartphone so no need to take a book with you everywhere. If you are looking to read the translation of the Quran but find no time (there's always time) then maybe the better option is to listen to the translation and tafsir. It takes literally 0 effort to listen to audio whilst going about your day. Download Kalaam where you will find audio from Islamic podcasts and Quran tafsir.

Create a goal

Have you ever read the Quran in its entirety? Do you know how to read the Quran with proper pronunciation? Setting a goal can give one motivation to carry on with the journey they have taken. If you havent ever read the Quran in its entirety, then make completing it a goal. If you never got around to learning the proper pronunciation of the Quran, then set this as a target and threshold. You can either self-teach to reach these goals or join an online Quran academy such as The Quran Hour where you will have access to learning the Quran online.

Final thoughts

It took 23 years of revelation to complete the Quran and since its completion it has been preserved to this day. The importance of the Quran can not be emphasised enough so it would be a shame for us to leave this world without making the most of it. Implement the above tips and if you find yourself slacking, then keep trying and keep pushing until it becomes a habit!
