We live in the 21st century, 1400 years after the Quran was revealed. Although we live in the internet era where the Quran is accessible to almost everyone in the world, it is suffering. The Quranic tradition has slowly dissipated where most of the people who read it don't understand it. In this article we will discuss the importance of the Quran in the current stage.

Why The Quran is important

The Quran is the embodiment of Islam and the word of Allah and without it, Islam fails to exist. The Quran is the guide for our life as Muslims. Nearly everything we do as Muslims is ordered in the Quran. Its the reason why Allah promised to preserve it and why it is still the same as it was when it was first revealed.

We pray according to the Quran, we marry according to the Quran and we live based on the Quran.

How the Quran is suffering

Although we have access to the Quran like never before, most people who read it don't understand it at all. It is only in the 21st century where majority of the Muslims have no clue what the Quran is saying. Although the amount of people who have memorised the Quran is higher than ever, the understanding of the words that are memorised is lost to most. This problem is making the Quran suffer.

What this means for the Ummah

The rise of atheism and liberalism has posed a great threat to the ummah. Even more so now as those who practice Islam don't know their own book, leading to our children being led away from Islam. The main reason for this is because most Muslims have a lack of understanding of their own holy book.

Values of liberalism are replacing Islamic values because most of us don't know that the values liberalism presents are given by Islam from the Quran in a better and more proficient way. The problem being that we are unaware of this, thus further damaging Islam as a whole.

What must we do?

Make Quran the pinnacle of yours and your child's life. Read the Quran more often but learn its meaning and what it is trying to tell us. If you cant find time to teach your child the Quran, then enrol them in to an online Quran class. At the very least, they will still remain connected with the Quran.

Final thoughts

The Quran is a major foundation of Islam. It is our responsibility as Muslims to help preserve it and spread its message. The only way we can do this is by staying connected with the Quran through platforms that help teach the Quran online or in institutes.
