Children have a capability that most of us adults don't ; the ability to soak in information like a sponge. The Quran is a very complex book and it can be used to really achieve some complex goals. Todays blog is about what your child can achieve in an online Quran class.

Learning the correct pronunciation

Online Quran classes for kids is very useful for Tajwid. Tajwid is the learning of the pronunciation of the Quran. Children are taught the bare basics from the alphabets and then taught how to pronounce these alphabets depending on how they are placed in a verse. This is very basic and can take children up to 6 months to attain a foundational understanding of this topic.

One-to-one Learning

Once a child has learnt how to pronounce the words in a verse, the next aim is to read the Quran and eventually complete it. This is a virtuous achievement as the Prophet PBUH has mentioned how this is a beloved act in the eyes of Allah. When our children complete a task as such, it should therefore be celebrated. It can take a child up to 1 year to complete the Quran on an online Quran platform as classes tend to be short.

Memorising Juzz-Ammah

As Muslims we all pray Salah five times a day. In order to fulfil these prayers, we have to read the Quran. The issue is that it is bad practice to read the same verses in every prayer. Muslims have been encouraged to mix things up. This is why memorising Juz-Ammah is a popular choice amongst Muslims. The chapters are very short and easily memorised. Online Quran classes for kids will help children to achieve this and such a task can take up to 1 year to complete.

Memorising Duas

Duas are a form of prayer that are used in Salah as well as outside of Salah. Muslims have been encouraged to perform these Duas in every day life. Upon entering the wash room or before eating, we have been told to pray short verses of the Quran. Children are able to learn these in Quran classes online and this can take up to 1-2 months to learn as they are short and simple.

Memorising the Quran

This is the biggest feat- period! Memorising the Quran is an Islamic tradition that dates back to the time of the prophet PBUH. Its the reason why the Quran has been preserved till this very day. The prophet has mentioned how the people who are able to memorise the Quran have a great reward in the hereafter. Although a very complicated task, it is very much achievable. Believe it or not, children are the best candidates for such a great task. The mind of a child is more able than an adults when it comes to memorisation.

Personally, we don't believe online Quran platforms are capable to efficiently help kids achieve such a task. Something like this takes a child to be committed and a 1 to 1 face to face class is advised. Having said that, there are online Quran memorisation classes that may be sufficient enough to help.

If one decides to take such a task online, it will take up to 10 years to complete.

Quran translation

Once the basics are complete, children can be taught the Qurans message. Possibly the most important task and one that will benefit children in their lives. The Quran is a guide to all Muslims so every one of us should benefit from what it is telling us. Reading in Arabic is great but not understanding the Arabic defeats the purpose altogether.

Learning the Fusha (Quranic Arabic)

If you thought some of the above mentioned tasks were complicated, then you aren't ready for this one! Learning to understand the classical Arabic is one of the most difficult tasks when it comes to the studying of the Quran. Online Quran academies are able to help your child to get started however The Quran Hour believes that in order to really get good at it, one will need a strong commitment and current Online Quran companies aren't equipped as such.

Final Thoughts

Online Quran classes for young children facilitate all the tasks and goals one wishes to achieve in the realm of Quranic study. Having said this, there are certain topics/modules that The Quran Hour believes that are better taught in a Madrassa however such topics can also be learnt online ; just less efficiently.
