How To Prepare Your Children For Ramadan

Ramadan is around the corner. As adults, we know that Ramadan is a time where fasting for a month is an obligation. We also know that Taraweeh and charity during this month is highly advised in our religion.

However, these obligations and expectations aren't necessary for our children that haven't reached puberty. In this article, we will discuss what can be done to prepare our children for Ramadan so that they are ready to commit to it when it is obligatory on them.

Make it fun

When it comes to children and teaching them the ways of Islam, it is very important that we approach with positivity. What better way to introduce your child to Ramadan than through fun and play. This way children look forward to Ramadan and associate happiness with it. This method should be used when introducing all principles of Islam.

Constant reminders

Remind your children of the importance of Ramadan. Make sure to sit with them and have a serious discussion on the obligation of fasting during Ramadan. It is also essential to tell them why Muslims fast during this month and why praying in abundance during Ramadan is recommended.

Read the Quran more often

During the month of Ramadan, make sure to read the Quran on a daily basis. It is the month of the Quran, so it is essential for our children to experience this by seeing us reading the book of Allah. Moreover, make your children read the Quran during this blessed month. If your children can not read the Quran, what better way to get them started than joining them to online Quran classes for kids through the The Quran Hour. Online Quran classes are a great addition to Ramadan as it'll be extra motivation for your children to look forward to reciting the Quran.

Final Thoughts

The month of Ramadan is sacred so we must make sure that our children are properly prepared for it. These preparations are intended to give them a lasting impression so that when fasting becomes an obligation, they embrace it with both arms!
