Masjids are popping up everywhere, yet the children attending these Masjids for their Islamic education have reduced. Why is this? In this article, we will discuss why Masjids are becoming unpopular amongst children.

Facilities

Masjid facilities have been lacking for many years. Although masjids have been getting bigger, they have not invested the time and money to find good teachers and facilities that would help to better children's recitation.

Parents have started to notice this and are now enrolling their children in online Quran classes. Online Quran classes have a more sophisticated curriculum and are 1 to 1 with teachers that are more qualified than your average UK masjid teacher.

Convenience

Learning to read the Quran

Much of the world has changed after covid, and people have now become more accustomed to online learning. Parents are working full-time and they do not have time to send their children to the masjid every time. Online Quran institutes are more convenient than sending your children to the Masjid.

Safeguarding

Masjids do not hold a good reputation when it comes to safeguarding. Most masjids in the past were physically abusive towards children who are now parents and the impression has left these very parents to keep their children away from the Masjid.

Online Quran classes in the UK like The Quran Hour make it their priority to set up all safeguarding guidelines.

Final Thoughts

Masjids are the house of Allah and are a place of worship. They are also a Muslim community centre, however, in recent times, the popularity of Masjids have dropped. Online Quran classes for kids have become a more convenient option for most parents, and for good reasons.
